COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Former Texas A&M softball standout Erin Glasco signed a professional contract with Dornbirn Sharx Softball, based in Dornbirn, a city in Vorarlberg, Austria.

A native of Johnston City, Ill., Glasco started nearly every game behind the plate her two seasons at A&M, posting a .278 career batting average with 88 hits, 21 doubles, six home runs and 58 RBIs. She led the Aggies to a national runner-up finish at the Women's College World Series in `08 and was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team after Texas A&M swept the league's regular season and tournament titles.

One of two senior co-captains for the Aggies in '09, Glasco led the team with a .479 on base percentage. She was a steady force in Big 12 play with a team-best .316 batting average, which earned her All-Big 12 first team honors. Glasco was also named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Central All-Region team in '09.

Glasco, who signed her professional contract back in February, will spend approximately two months with the Sharx in Austria this summer.

"I chose to play for the Sharx because I have always wanted the opportunity to play internationally," said Glasco. "All of the former players had nothing but good things to say about the program and their choice to play in Austria, so I decided that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Glasco is in her second professional stint after spending last summer playing with the USSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch.

In her spare time, Glasco plans to travel and sightsee through Austria and neighboring countries.

"The most important thing about this program is that it's an amazing opportunity to share the passion we have for softball and the skills we have been able to acquire through our own personal training with the Austrian players," Glasco said. "The levels of skill vary greatly among all the players and it's really awesome to see them improve, and to see their confidence grow as we continue to practice and compete."

Glasco graduated from A&M in May with a bachelor's degree in business management and will join her father, Gerry Glasco, on the coaching staff at the University of Georgia as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall.
