Amanda Scarborough enters her first season as the volunteer pitching coach for the Texas A&M softball team, following a one-year stint as a student assistant. She works primarily with the Aggie pitching staff and assists with hitting.
The two-time All-American at A&M played her career under head coach Jo Evans and established herself as one of the greatest softball players to ever wear an Aggie uniform. Her list of accomplishments speaks for itself.
Scarborough was a finalist for USA Softball's National Player of the Year Award in 2007. She is a two-time all-region selection, a three-time All-Big 12 first team honoree and was named the conference's Co-Pitcher of the Year as a junior and the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in 2005.
Scarborough wrote her name in the record book during her career at A&M and is in the top 10 in numerous categories. At the plate, she accumulated an impressive .355 batting average and .608 slugging percentage, 125 RBIs, 42 doubles and 25 home runs. In the circle, the ace posted a 1.45 ERA and 71 wins through 109 appearances. En route to 27 complete-game shutouts, she fanned 537 hitters through 599 two-thirds innings of work.
Scarborough's success on the field spilled over into the classroom as she was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 first team selection, a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District choice, and she became just the second Aggie softball player to be named an Academic All-American.
In addition to her work with the Texas A&M softball team, Scarborough gives private lessons, runs camps in the Houston/Dallas areas, and assists with the Texas A&M Pitching, Hitting and Summer Camps.
A 2008 graduate of Texas A&M, Scarborough earned a bachelor's degree in communication and is working towards her master's degree in sport management.
