Young Tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M sophomore Bri Young was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday. In a 4-0 win against Texas last week, Young led the Aggies to their third straight shutout. She helped limit the Longhorns to just two shots on goal and one corner kick, and held UT without a shot in the final 25 minutes of the first half. In addition, Young also contributed offensively by tallying three points with a goal and an assist. She ranks third on the team in goals (5) and points (15), and second with five assists. The conference player of the week award is the second for Young this season and the sixth honor for the Aggies. A&M posted its ninth shutout against Texas and leads the Big 12 with six shutouts in conference matches. Follow Young and the second-seeded Aggies as they face No. 7 seed Baylor at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship in San Antonio, Texas, Wednesday.
