COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M junior Rachel Shipley and senior Emily Peterson were selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District women's soccer teams.

Both Aggie soccer players are finance majors and were named to the Academic All-District second team. Shipley carries a 3.693 grade point average and Peterson maintains a 3.921 GPA as a member of the Mays Business Honors program.

Shipley earns her first College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) academic honor and was honored on the Academic All-Big 12 first team in 2008. In her career she was a two-time All-Central Region selection, she was chosen to the Big 12 All-Newcomer team and she was named Big 12 Player of the Week three times. Shipley was the Texas A&M Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and the assists leader last season. She currently leads A&M soccer with seven assists and 19 points. She has also scored six goals.

This year marks Peterson's third Academic All-District award. She has been on the Academic All-Big 12 first team twice and was a 2006 All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore. In four years, Peterson was a three-time All-Central Region honoree and was named the A&M Defensive MVP twice and the Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. The three-time Verizon Athletic Scholar is also a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

The No. 20 Aggies wrapped up the regular season Friday with a 4-0 shutout of Texas. They travel to San Antonio, Texas, next week for the Big 12 Championship. Second-seeded A&M's first match in the single-elimination tournament is against No. 7 seed Baylor at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
