COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M sophomore Kelly Dyer earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors and freshman Bri Young was selected to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Dyer received the league award for the second week in a row, a feat no other Aggie soccer player has accomplished. Young was one of two defenders chosen for the Elite Team.

From Germantown, Tenn., Dyer started and recorded two shutouts in goal this past weekend. She tallied a career-high eight saves for the third time this season, keeping No. 9 Texas scoreless through 110 minutes. Dyer helped A&M to its first Big 12 win with one save in a 1-0 win at Baylor.

Young scored in the 80th minute at Baylor to lead the Aggies to victory. The Castle Pines North, Colo., native netted her second goal of the season and first career game winner off of a free kick from about 40 yards. The starting center back anchored a defense that held the Bears to just two shots, including zero in the second half. Young also started at Texas and helped hold the Longhorns scoreless in double overtime.

Dyer is the fifth straight A&M player to be named league player of the week this season. The last player to be named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week was Cydne Currie on Sept. 9.

The seventh-ranked Aggies are 8-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Big 12 and host No. 12 Oklahoma State (9-0-1, 1-0-1 Big 12) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
