COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The third-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team will open an important road swing on Friday when the Aggies compete in a split-squad "doubleheader" of sorts in the Metroplex.

Where normally the hunter seat and western squads both compete against the same opponent, the two teams will split and face off against SMU and TCU, respectively, on opposite sides of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.

The Aggie hunter seat squad (6-2) will meet the Mustangs at BuckBranch Farm in Wilmer at 10 a.m., while the western riders (6-2) will battle the Horned Frogs at 6 p.m. inside John Justin Arena in Fort Worth. The competition against TCU is part of the Fort Worth Stock Show.

SMU (1-4), which sponsors only hunter seat, fell at Baylor on Saturday before rebounding with a win over Tennessee-Martin the following afternoon. Texas A&M's hunter seat riders lead the all-time series with the Mustangs, 4-0.

TCU is 6-5 as a full squad on the year and is coming off a 13-7 home win over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday. The Aggie western riders have won four of five all-time meetings with the Horned Frogs, including a 7-1 victory at last April's Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco.

Texas A&M has won five straight shows and is coming off an impressive 15-5 defeat of Delaware State on Saturday at the Brazos County Expo Complex. Following Friday's shows, the Aggies will head to Waco next weekend to battle Baylor before closing the regular season with three straight home competitions.
