Aggies Climb To Program-Best No. 3 In Associated Press Top 25 Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M women's basketball team continues to be rewarded for its school-record 10-0 start on the season climbing to a program-best No. 3 national ranking in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Monday.

The undefeated Aggies replaced Stanford (8-3) at the No. 3 spot in this week's poll after beating their second top 25 opponent of the season in No. 24 TCU on Dec. 21, while the Cardinal lost to No. 6 Duke and No. 8 Tennessee. It tied a school-record No. 3 national appearance in the last two USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Top 25 Polls on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15. A&M was one of four teams from the Big 12 Conference to be ranked in the AP Top 10 for the fourth consecutive week with three in the Top 5 for the first time in league history with No. 4 Texas (10-0) and No. 5 Oklahoma (9-2).

The Aggies rank among the top 10 teams in the country in five NCAA statistical categories including No. 1 in field-goal percentage defense (30.7), three-point field-goal percentage defense (.175), tied for No. 1 in won-lost percentage (100.0), No. 3 in scoring defense (49.1) and No. 8 in steals per game (13.1) as of Dec. 21. A&M is one of just eight unbeatens left this season including rival UT, No. 1 Connecticut (10-0), No. 2 North Carolina (12-0), No. 9 Auburn (12-0), No. 22 Kansas State (10-0), Mississippi State (10-0) and Wake Forest (10-0).
