Aggie Women No. 16 In Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - For the fourth consecutive season, the Texas A&M women's basketball team was selected to the preseason ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches Top 25 poll released on Wednesday. Coming off a successful 27-8 NCAA Sweet 16 campaign, the Aggies were picked No. 16 by a voting panel that tabbed defending national champion Connecticut as the preseason favorite with 31 first-place votes. It marked A&M's fourth all-time appearance in the preseason Coaches Poll next to being selected a program-best No. 10 in the nation leading into the 2008-09 season, No. 11 in 2007-08 and No. 14 in 2006-07. The Aggies host Oklahoma City University in an exhibition game scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. (CT), prior to commencing the 2009-10 season with their home opener versus No. 6 Duke on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. The Blue Devils are one of seven opponents on A&M's schedule ranked among the preseason coaches top 25 along with No. 4 Baylor, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 11 Arizona State, No. 13 California, No. 14 Texas and No. 24 Iowa State.
