COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Game one of the Texas A&M baseball Fall World Series has been cancelled due to steady rain in the Bryan/College Station area. It will not be made up.
The four-game series will now open Tuesday at 3 p.m. One game is scheduled each day this week, with the series concluding Friday afternoon. All games will be played regardless of outcome, admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
The “Farmers” and “Plowboys” have been battling all fall for the coveted Omaha Cup, a trophy that rewards the squad that compiles the most points throughout the fall in many areas of competition—not only through on-field results, but effort, classroom attendance, academic performance and community service, among others.
A&M returns six starters and 20 letterwinners from last year’s squad, which posted 37 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. The 2010 season will begin on Friday, February 19 against Olsen Field against Seton Hall.
