COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Sophomore Ross Stripling (Southlake) tossed a complete-game four hitter to lead the Farmers to a 6-2 win over the Plowboys in game two of the Texas A&M baseball Fall World Series Wednesday afternoon at Olsen Field.

Stripling needed just 84 pitches to wrap up the victory, allowing only a two-run home run in the second inning. He did not walk a batter and struck out eight to push the Farmers to within one win of the Fall World Series crown and the coveted Omaha Cup.

The bats backed Stripling with an 11-hit attack, blasting two home runs, a triple and a double en route to the win. Sophomore shortstop Adam Smith (Spring) had a game-high three hits, with a triple, home run and two RBIs.

Smith put the Farmers up 2-0 in the top of the second with a long home run to center field off Plowboys starter Clayton Ehlert that scored Joaquin Hinojosa.

The Farmers would extend their lead to three in the third on a one-out RBI single by senior first baseman Joe Patterson (Tulsa, Okla.).

Freshman center fielder Brandon Wood (Sugar Land) touched Stripling for a two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame, depositing the first pitch off the scoreboard in left to pull the Plowboys within one at 3-2. Later in the inning, sophomore second baseman Scott Arthur (Spring) was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on an infield single, preserving the Farmers' lead.

Smith would lead off the top of the fourth with a triple inside the bag at third and would come home when the next batter, junior catcher Gregg Alcazar (Galveston), grounded out to second.

Sophomore third baseman Matt Juengel (Houston) made the score 6-2 with a two-run home run to left field in the last of the fifth for the day's final runs.

Juengel and Alcazar had two hits apiece for the Farmers, who saw the first seven spots in the lineup get at least one hit. Along with Wood, Tyler Naquin, Caleb Shofner and Kenny Jackson had the other knocks for the Plowboys.

Ehlert allowed 10 hits and five earned runs in six innings of work while suffering the loss. A pair of freshmen, lefty Dylan Mendoza (Lake Travis) and right-hander Jake Feckley (Wylie) combined for three innings of one-hit, shutout relief for the Plowboys.

The Farmers look to clinch the series on Thursday in game three, with first pitch set for 3 p.m. Freshman right-hander Michael Wacha will get the ball for the Farmers and will face Plowboys junior Barret Loux. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
