Commodores in the Cape Cod League. 2006 (FRESHMAN/WINTHROP UNIV): Burst on to the collegiate scene with a tremendous freshman campaign (13-3, 3.78 ERA) ... was named Collegiate Baseball's National Freshman Pitcher of the Year and selected to the publication's All-America third-team ... was named the Big South Conference's Freshman of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors after leading the league in strikeouts (143), strikeouts looking, wins (13), innings pitched (138) and starts (19) ... helped the Eagles to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional championship game, where they fell to eventual national runner-up and host North Carolina ... three-time Big South Pitcher of the Week honoree ... defeated 16th-ranked Miami in Coral Gables in the first start of his career (Feb. 5: 8 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) ... followed that up with a win at Alabama in his next start ... also earned victories against No. 19 Wake Forest (April 5: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 9 K) and at No. 4 Clemson (April 18: 8 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 5 K) ... fanned a career-high 16 batters in win over High Point (May 13).
