AT A&M CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters for coach Chase Mann at A&M Consolidated High School (College Station, Texas) ... pitched and played first base ... earned all-district honors as a designated hitter after his sophomore and junior seasons and was named to the all-district squad as a pitcher after his senior year ... named to The Bryan/College Station Eagle's All-Brazos Valley Team after junior and senior years ... accumulated a record of 5-2 and an ERA of 2.96 to lead A&M Consolidated to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs in 2005 (team captain) ... hit .402 and went 7-0 with a 1.86 ERA and 48 strikeouts and 40.1 innings of work in the summer of 2005 for the Brazos Valley Renegades ... helped lead the Renegades to AAU national tournament in Florida, where he earned all-tournament honors after pitching a complete-game in the semifinals ... also lettered two seasons in football as a defensive end and tight end.
