TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY INSTITUTIONAL SELF-STUDY FOR THE NCAA ATHLETIC CERTIFICATION

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Using the guidelines provided by the National Collegiate Athletics Association, Texas A&M University has conducted a self-study of its intercollegiate athletics programs. The study concerned itself with academic and fiscal integrity, rules compliance, and minority and gender equity. We conclude that the athletics program is in compliance with the operating principles set forth by the NCAA.

Additionally, we have identified areas for improvement and have made suggestions as to their implementation. In particular, additional innovative academic support paradigms must be developed to improve the graduation rates for certain student-athlete sub-groups.
