Texas A&M heads to the Holiday Bowl looking for its 10th win of the season. The Aggies will play the Cal Golden Bears of the Pac 10 Conference, who stand at 8-3 heading into their season finale Saturday against Stanford. The 2006 Holiday Bowl marks the 29th bowl game in A&M history but only the second time the Aggies have traveled to San Diego for the holiday classic. In 1990, Texas A&M trounced a 10-1 BYU team led by Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer, 65-14, in A&M’s only other Holiday Bowl appearance. Aggie quarterback Bucky Richardson, an easy choice for Offensive MVP, finished the evening with 344 total yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 119 yards and two scores, completed 9-of-11 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown, and caught one for 22 yards and a score.
