Former Texas A&M and current New York Liberty forward Kelsey Bone was named to the 2013 WNBA All-Rookie Team, joining Elena Delle Donne (Chicago), Britney Griner (Phoenix), Alex Bentley (Atlanta) and Skylar Diggins (Tulsa) on the first team.

Bone is the second Aggie to earn WNBA All-Rookie honors, joining Danielle Adams, who earned the same recognition in 2011 with the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Bone was the fifth overall pick by the Liberty in the 2013 WNBA Draft, and rewarded New York by ranking third among all rookies in rebounding and fifth among first-year players in scoring. She scored in double figures in nine games and had two double doubles, the only rookie other than Brittney Griner to have multiple double doubles in 2013.

She averaged 6.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Liberty, and recorded a career-high with 20 points on July 4 in a road game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The voting panel consisted of the WNBA’s 12 head coaches, each of whom voted for five players regardless of position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Bone received 10 votes, coming just one vote short of joining Delle Donne and Griner as a unanimous selection.

A consensus All-American and the SEC Tournament MVP while at Texas A&M in 2012-13, she scored the fourth-most points in a single season in school history with 582, and the second-most single-season rebounds in program history with 326.
