Texas - The Texas A&M men's basketball team continues its two-game road
trip Wednesday when it travels to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU in a 7 p.m. contest
inside the Maravich Center.
Wednesday's game will be televised by the SEC Network, and a
complete list of network affiliates for this weekend can be found HERE.
On the television call will be Clay Matvick and Jon Sunvold.
Meanwhile, Aggie fans can all hear all the action on the Aggie Radio Network by
tuning in locally on WTAW (1620 AM) or streaming online at AggieAthletics.com.
The Aggies enter the match-up with a 12-5 overall record and
a 2-2 mark in SEC games after dropping a hard-fought contest at Alabama on
Saturday.
Senior Elston Turner led the Aggies in scoring against the
Crimson Tide, making 6-of-13 field attempts to finish with 13 points and record
a double-digit point total for the 39th time in 49 career games at
Texas A&M.
Also against Alabama, freshman J'Mychal Reese scored 10
points, reaching double figures for the sixth time this season in back-to-back
games for the first time during his young A&M career. On the glass,
sophomore Kourtney Roberson led the team in rebounds (eight) for the third time
in the last four games as the Aggies out-rebounded their fourth straight
opponent.
LSU, meanwhile, brings a 9-6 overall record with a 0-4 mark
in SEC games into Wednesday affair. The Tigers began the 2012-13 season with
nine wins in 11 games, but have dropped road contests at Auburn and Georgia and
home games to Florida and South Carolina to begin league play.
The Tigers are led by first-year head coach Johnny Jones,
who spent the previous 11 seasons as the head coach at North Texas.

SERIES NOTES
- Wednesday's contest will be the 24th meeting between the
Aggies and the Tigers on the hardwood and the first as members of the SEC.
- The series dates back to the 1916-17 season during the
early days of each school's men's basketball program ... LSU earned a 24-15
victory.
- The last meeting between the schools came on Dec. 20,
2008, when the Aggies defeated LSU 72-61 at Houston's Toyota Center.
- A&M head coach Billy Kennedy is 0-2 against LSU having
faced them once while at Centenary and once as the head coach at Southeastern
Louisiana.
- The series has been dominated by the home team with the
Aggies holding a 5-0 record in College Station and the Tigers owning a 7-0 mark
in Baton Rouge.
QUICK HITS
- The Aggies will be looking to bounce back after suffering
back-to-back losses for this first time this year.
- Texas A&M men's basketball is also searching for its
1,300th all-time victory on Saturday as the program enters the contest with an
all-time record of 1,299-1,181 in 101 seasons.
- Senior forward Jarod Jahns made his first career start
last time out at Alabama ... The walk-on who has seen an increase in playing
time this season is averaging 12.3 minutes per game.
- Senior guard Elston Turner enters the LSU game ranking
seventh in the SEC in scoring at 16.1 points per game and third the league in
3-point shooting percentage at .413.
- Turner has reached double figures in scoring in all but
one game this season and 39 of 49 career games.
- As a team, the Aggies lead the SEC on 3-point field goal
percentage at .376.
- In addition to Elston Turner, junior guard Fabyon Harris
has been a potent scoring threat for A&M over the last month ... The
Chicago native has posted double-figure points in five of his last eight games
to boost his scoring average to 9.9 on the year.
- The Aggies, who struggled rebounding during non-conference
play, have held the edge on the boards in each of their first four conference
games by a combined margin of 146-110 (+9.0 margin).
A&M ENJOYING
FIRST-YEAR SEC SUCCESS
• Football - The Aggies'
inaugural run through the SEC on the gridiron culminated in an 11-2 record that
featured a victory over top-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and 41-13 win
over Oklahoma in the 77th Annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic ... Aggie RS
freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel took home the coveted Heisman Trophy as the
Aggies finished ranked No. 5 in both the AP and USA Today polls.
• Volleyball - Under the
direction of head coach Laurie Corbelli, Texas A&M volleyball won the SEC
Western Division title with a 25-5 overall record and a 16-4 conference mark.
The team reached the NCAA second round of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out
to eventual National Champion Texas.
• Women's Soccer - The
Aggies' success continued onto the pitch as head coach G Guerrieri guided the
women's soccer team to a 19-4-1 record that featured in a 10-2-1 record in
league play which netted A&M the SEC Western Division crown.
• Men's Cross Country - Texas A&M senior Henry Lelei became
the school's first individual champion in the Southeastern Conference when he
claimed the men's cross country title with a time of 23:29.95 at Percy Warner
Park. Lelei was named SEC Runner of the Year and USTFCCCA Men's Athlete of the
Year en route to finishing fifth at the NCAA Championship.

COACH BILLY KENNEDY
- Billy Kennedy was named the 21st coach in Texas A&M
men's basketball history on May 16, 2011 ... he is a native of New Orleans and
has spent 14 seasons as a head coach, with a record of 237-202 ... over the
last four seasons, his teams have combined to post a record of 80-37.
- Over his last eight
years as a head coach, Kennedy's teams have averaged 20 wins a season, earned
four conference titles and made three trips to the postseason-two to the NCAA
Tournament and one in the NIT ... in addition, the Murray State squad which he
built before heading to College Station finished the 2012 season 31-2, won the
Ohio Valley title at 15-1 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA
Tournament.
- Kennedy's veteran staff in Aggieland has a combined 94
years of collegiate coaching experience and over the last 11 years has been a
part of 18 conference titles and 22 postseasons (15 NCAA, 7 NIT).
