COLLEGE STATION, Texas - No. 20 Texas A&M (13-5, 3-1)
will travel to Athens, Ga. to face off with the No. 12 Georgia Lady
Bulldogs (16-2, 4-1) at 4 pm (CT) on Sunday.
The match up will be the second meeting between the two
programs, the Aggies were victorious in the previous match up in the by a score
of 79-38 at the 2011 Sweet Sixteen hosted at the American Airlines Center in
Dallas, Texas as the Aggies went on to win the 2011 NCAA Championship. Danielle
Adams led the Aggies with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Tyra White (14) and Sydney
Colson (11) joined Adams in double figure scoring in the contest.
Texas A&M is coming off an impressive 78-56 victory at
home over Auburn, the Aggies led by as much as 30 late in the game. Junior
Kelsey Bone tallied another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds,
joining her with a double-double of her own was senior Kristi Bellock (13
points and 10 rebounds). Freshman Courtney Walker added 16 and senior Adrienne
Pratcher chipped in 11 points as the Aggies shot 48 percent from the floor
while limiting Auburn to 37.9 percent shooting.
Bone has taken charge of the
A&M team leading the Aggies in scoring in 10 of the last 11 games, averaging
22.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in the stretch. Bone has had
double-double in seven of the last eight games including the last five
straight. Bellock recorded her fourth career double-double against the Tigers
with 13 points and 10 boards. Since SEC play started Bellock has elevated her
play averaging 12.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per conference game.
Sunday's game will be broadcast on ESPN2 with Adam Amin
calling play-by-play and Nell Fortner adding commentary, it will mark the sixth
appearance for the Aggies on television this season.
