COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Kourtney Roberson led Texas A&M's domination of the boards, collecting 12 rebounds and scoring 13 points as the Aggies powered to a 69-51 victory over Arkansas on Wednesday night.

Roberson, a sophomore forward, registered the first double-double of his career as the Aggies (11-3, 1-0 SEC) won the rebounding battle 51-27. A&M grabbed 19 offensive boards and had a 21-8 advantage in second-chance points.

"We worked on rebounding all week," Roberson said. "We wanted to win the rebounding by plus-five, but we got a lot more than that. They weren't doing a good job of boxing out, and I had to get as many rebounds as I could."

Arkansas (9-5, 0-1) had a five-game winning streak snapped. The Razorbacks led 23-21 late in the first half before A&M scored 15 consecutive points in a run that extended into the second half.

The Razorbacks, who dropped to 0-4 away from home, got no closer than 10 points during the final 18 minutes.

It was the first SEC game for A&M and its first conference game against the Razorbacks since 1991, when both schools belonged to the now-defunct Southwest Conference.

TEAM RECORDS & SERIES NOTES

● With the win, Texas A&M improved to 11-3 on the season with a 1-0 mark in SEC play.

● Additionally, A&M increased its record at Reed Arena to 9-1 on the year.

● Arkansas fell to 9-5 on the season with a 0-1 league record.

● Texas A&M now trails the all-time series with the Razorbacks by the count of 96-52 ... The series dates back to the 1923-24 season.

● A&M has also won five of its last seven conference-opening games.

TEAM NOTES

● The Aggie defense held the Razorbacks to a season-low 51 points ... Arkansas' previous lowest scoring output this season was 67 points in a loss at No. 3 Michigan.

● It also marked the fifth straight contest Texas A&M held an opponent under 60 points and the 10^th overall time this season.

● A&M dominated the glass in the contest, holding a 51-27 edge in the rebounding column which led to a 21-8 advantage in second chance points.

● Texas A&M shot 36.2 percent from the floor by converting 21-of-58 shot attempts ... The Hogs, meanwhile, made 22-of-52 shot attempts to end play with a 42.3 percent shooting mark.

● The Aggies also owned a significant advantage at the free throw line, where they made 22-of-27 attempts in comparison of 4-of-15 shooting from the charity stripe for Arkansas.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

● RS sophomore Kourtney Roberson finished with his first career double-double, pulling down a career-best-tying 12 boards to go along with 13 points.

● Junior guard Fabyon Harris led all scorers with 17 points in the contest, marking the fourth time in the last five games he's notched double-figures in points ... The Chicago native finished an impressive 10-for-10 form the free throw line.

● Senior guard Elston Turner notched 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc ... The performance extended his streak of double-digit scoring games to 14 and gave him 37 for his two-year A&M career ... Turner also pulled down a career-best eight rebounds.

● Senior Jared Jahns recorded a personal-best five rebounds to go along with five points.

● A&M head coach Billy Kennedy is now 25-21 in his second season at Texas A&M and 236-200 in 15 years as a head coach.

FIRST HALF NOTES

● Texas A&M led 29-24 after 20 minutes of play.

● The Aggies claimed the game's first five points en route to shooting 10-for-33 (.303) for the half ... Arkansas, meanwhile, made 10-of-24 first half field goals to shoot 41.7 percent.

● A&M held an impressive 27-17 edge in the rebounding column.

● Elston Turner led all scorers in the period with nine points

SECOND HALF NOTES

● The Aggies outscored the Razorbacks 40-27 during the second half.

● Texas A&M shot 44 percent (11-of-25) during the second half, while Arkansas made 12-of-28 shots after halftime (42.9 percent).

● A&M's biggest lead of the night came at the 8:19 mark of the period when a pair of Harris free throws made it 56-33 Aggies.

● Harris led all scorers with 14 points at the break, 10 of which came from the free throw line.

● The Aggies hit the road for their first SEC road game on Saturday when they travel to Lexington, Ky., to battle defending National Champion Kentucky.

"I'm really proud of our guys for competing and getting better in the two areas we needed to get better in. We took care of the ball, we had only 10 turnovers, and we outrebounded them 51 to 27. The 19 offensive rebounds were a big key to us winning the game. Our defense on (BJ) Young and (Marshawn) Powell was as good as it needed to be to get us the win."

Did you see this coming?

"No. I knew we had it in us. Against Houston we played with that kind of aggressiveness and effort. We started the game out, got some transition baskets, and ran better. Being a conference game our guys raised their level of play up. You'd like to have that every very night but we're still a work in progress. Hopefully, we can build off it from here."

On getting a win in the first SEC game:

"It's great. You guys know the opponents we have coming up in the next few games. You have to win your home games in order to compete and get to postseason play."

On defending Arkansas' Marshawn Powell:

"First of all, we did a real good job when he or Young had the ball.  We got in the gaps, got early help and made others beat us. He's really a good player."

On the win giving momentum heading into Kentucky:

"Hopefully, it will help a whole lot. We're going to enjoy this one tonight and start preparing for Kentucky. We have already been doing that actually. It's a tough spot, defending National Champions, a very talented team that's getting better. But we'll enjoy this one tonight."

"I kept telling everyone all week I had zero rebounds (in the last game). I told them today would be the day I would get double-digit rebounds so I had to go out and do it."
