COLLEGE
STATION, Texas - Two accomplished international golfers signed
national letters of intent to play golf at Texas A&M, Aggie Head Coach
Trelle McCombs announced today. Bianca Fabrizio (Italy) and Thanya
Pattamakijsakul (Thailand) will join the Aggies on the links in the fall of
2013.
"Both of these young ladies are exceptional in the classroom
and academics are extremely important to them." McCombs said. "In addition to
their commitment to academics both are very accomplished on the international
golf scene and will do a great job for the Aggies on and off the course. Bianca
will bring experience to the lineup from the time she steps on campus. Thanya
is a very steady player and will be someone that we can count on the be the
rock in the middle of the line-up"
Fabrizio, a well-traveled international golfer, will make an
immediate impact in the Aggie lineup that will be losing four seniors at the
conclusion of the 2013 season. Currently ranked 300 in the World Amateur Golf
Rankings and member of the Italian National team. Recently Fabrizio competed
against current Aggie golfers Patricia Garcia and Katerina Ruzickova in the
World Amateur Golf Championship, placing seventh in the world with scores of
74-71-72-67 to finish at four-under par. Fabrizio's efforts helped Italy to a
team finish of 11th, only three shots out of tenth.
"I was truly impressed from the first time I visited
campus, the university and its' atmosphere were so fascinating," Fabrizio said
when asked why she Chose Texas A&M over Miami, Texas Tech and Arizona.
"Everybody was so kind and supportive of the Aggies. I fell I will fit in
perfectly with the team and coaches. The facilities at Texas A&M are top
notch. I really feel I can accomplish my goals at Texas A&M, both as a
student and developing my golf game."
Pattamakijsakul will join the Aggies
after a successful summer circuit playing in four events in the United States.
In that time Pattamakijsakul reached 94th in the POLO Golf Rankings with two
finishes of 15th or better over that span. Thanya has had seven top-ten
finishes in American Junior Golf Association tournaments, including at win at
the AJGA Huntsville Junior with scores of 68-68-71 besting the field by eight
strokes. Earlier this month Pattamakijsakul won the Singha Challenge Grand
Final Amateur Tournament with scores of 73-70-71, winning by three strokes.
"A&M has really good facilities
and a solid golf program," Pattamakijsakul said when asked why she chose Texas
A&M over Illinois, Oregon, Alabama and Duke. "The coaches were really
welcoming and helpful and I feel comfortable with the team. Among all of the
schools that recruited me, A&M stood out the most. The program seems to be
getting better each year. The coaches have the program going in the right
direction and I hope to contribute to the team's continued success."
McCombs' recruiting class
will join the team in the fall of 2013 to prepare for the 2014 season. The
Aggies will continue play this season with the Mash Up Invitational in
Tallahassee, Florida on Feb. 15. To learn more about Texas A&M Women's
