At-large selections for the NCAA Cross Country
Championships included another Aggie as senior James Hodges was named to the
field by the NCAA selection committee on Saturday.
Hodges, who placed 13th in the South Central
race, will join teammate Henry Lelei, the South Central champion, in the
national meet that will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, in Louisville, Kentucky. The
race will take place at the E.P. Tom
Sawyer State Park starting at 12:15 p.m. (CT).
However, the inclusion of Hodges as an individual
at-large selection means the Texas A&M men's team did not receive one of
the 13 at-large team selections made by the committee. The Aggies placed third
in the South Central region behind Texas and Arkansas.
The men's teams receiving at-large selections included
Colorado, Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, New Mexico, North Carolina State,
Notre Dame, Oregon, Princeton, Syracuse, Tulsa, UCLA and Virginia Tech.
Women's teams earning at-large selections included
Arizona, Boston College, Butler, Colorado, Cornell, Florida, Georgia, Harvard,
Minnesota, Notre Dame, Toledo, Villanova and Washington.
