COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M softball team finishes opponent play in the fall exhibition season Sunday as the Aggies host Sam Houston State and North Texas at the Aggie Softball Complex. Entrance to all fall games in Aggieland are FREE to the public.

The mini tournament features a 10 a.m. game between A&M and SHSU, followed by a neutral site game between the Bearkats and the Mean Green at 12:15 p.m. The Aggies will then play UNT at 2:30 p.m. in the final game of the day. The A&M-SHSU game will be broadcast live on 95.1-3 The Zone HD. The app can be found at RadioAggieland.com or fans can listen to the pitch-by-pitch at AggieAthletics.com. The A&M-UNT game will not be broadcast.

The Bearkats will return 17 of 22 players from a 2012 squad that worked its way into the school's record books. Last year's team broke the school record for home runs in a season, clearing the fence 50 times, and tied a school record with eight all-conference selections. Despite a 1-13 start that included a tough schedule against several nationally-ranked teams, the Bearkats won 25 of the next 29 games to create a banner year. Head coach Bob Brock, who was at the helm of A&M softball through its three national championships, earned his 1000th career victory in 2012, becoming just the 22nd Division I head coach to do so.

North Texas also had a record year, winning a program-best 13 Sun Belt Conference games before ending its season in the conference tournament semifinals. The Mean Green was 28-26 on the season; 28 wins were a program second-best and 26 losses were a program second-fewest. North Texas has a fairly young team headed into the 2013 season, with eight freshmen and three sophomores in the 19-player lineup. Just two players return for their fourth year of action, including pitching standout Brittany Simmons.

The Aggies will officially close out the fall season in the upcoming week with the Maroon & White Series. The annual intra-squad scrimmage is a best-of-five series that starts on Monday, Oct. 15, and could continue through Friday, Oct. 19, if necessary. Those games will be aired live on AggieAthletics.com and the games will start at 3:45 p.m. (CST) each day.
