COLLEGE STATION,
Texas - The Texas A&M softball team swept its season-opening
doubleheader with Blinn College, 19-3 and 7-1, Wednesday at the Aggie Softball
Complex.
A trio of three-run home runs in game one helped the Aggies
to a 19-3 victory over the Buccaneers. Junior Nicole Morgan and freshmen Cali
Lanphear and Breanna Dozier contributed the big hits.
Dozier came out big in game two also, dishing out an RBI
double to match the RBI double by senior Sydney Shannon and give the Aggies a
4-0 lead in the first inning. A two-run bomb by Morgan stretched the lead to
6-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
Sophomore hurler Lauren Ainsley held onto a perfect game
until the top of the fifth when a solo home run gave Blinn its only run of the
game.
An RBI ground out by junior Taran Tyler pushed the 7-1 run
home and the Aggies secured a series sweep of the Buccaneers.
Up next, the Aggies travel to the Spring Klein Classic in
Spring, Texas, on Saturday to take on Houston at 12:15 p.m. and Stephen F.
Austin at 2:30 p.m. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to
