COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After 15 years of service as President and CEO
of the 12th Man Foundation, W. Miles Marks has informed the Board of Trustees
and Staff of the 12th Man Foundation of his intent to take early retirement to
pursue other interests. His official
letter of resignation has been accepted by the Board of Trustees effective
October 1, 2012. The Board will
immediately begin a national search for a President and CEO.
On
behalf of the entire 12th Man Foundation, The Board of Trustees expresses its
sincere appreciation to Mr. Marks for his efforts while serving as President and
CEO of this Foundation, and for the many achievements and accomplishments of
the Foundation team during his tenure as President and CEO. The Board and Mr. Marks also wish to
acknowledge and recognize the great staff of the 12th Man Foundation whose dedication
has contributed greatly to the Foundation's success.
"Three
groups have made this organization succeed," said Marks. "I sincerely
appreciate the present and past members of the Board of Trustees for the
incredible opportunity to serve Texas A&M University through this role at
the 12th Man Foundation. Their
leadership, dedication, and love for Texas A&M has set the standard for
success at the 12th Man Foundation. Success is easy with a great team, and the
staff of the Foundation is simply the very best in the fundraising industry. I know they will continue to successfully
meet the upcoming challenges of funding scholarships, programs and new
facilities, including the redevelopment of Kyle Field. And finally, many thanks to our thousands of 12th
Man Foundation donors whose support has taken our programs to new heights as we
work together for the interests of our great student athletes. I wish the 12th Man Foundation the very best
for continued success."
Marks
helped build the 12th Man Foundation into one of the nation's
premier fundraising organizations.
"Miles Marks has led the 12th Man Foundation with
dignity and pride for the past 15 years," said Texas A&M Director of
Athletics Eric Hyman. "Under Miles' leadership, the 12th Man Foundation
has become the gold standard in intercollegiate athletics fundraising.
Texas A&M Athletics is better for the time that Miles spent as the
President of the 12th Man Foundation and we wish him well as he takes on new
challenges."

years of selfless service in leading the 12th Man Foundation and supporting our
athletics program," said Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin. "Under Miles'
leadership, the 12th Man Foundation has grown into one of the top
organizations of its kind across the country, providing a solid foundation upon
which to build in our first season in the SEC and as we embark on the Kyle
Field project."

Board extends its best wishes to Mr. Marks and his family in his future
endeavors.
