Penny King is in her 41st year of service with the Texas A&M Athletic Department, currently serving as a Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator. In addition she serves as the administrator for men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming and volleyball.
King previously served as Deputy Director of Athletics, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Athletic Business Manager, among other roles. She began her career in the Athletic Ticket Office.
A native of Abilene, Texas, King began working in the Athletic Department in 1972. King graduated cum laude from Texas A&M in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in business management. While attending A&M, she was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon, National Honorary and professional management Fraternity.
King has been active in CABMA (College Athletic Business Management Association), where she was honored with the College Athletics Business Manager of the Year Award in 1997. She continues involvement in NACDA (National Athletic Collegiate Directors of Athletics).
King is involved in community initiatives to promote Texas A&M Athletics. She was previously a member of the Bryan Rotary Club and served as President during the 2000-2001 year. In 2005, she was awarded the Service Award for Professional Excellence in celebration of Rotary's centennial year.
Penny and her husband, Clark, enjoy golf and spending time with their family. They have one son, Rusty, class of '91. Rusty and his wife Becky live in Austin and are the proud parents of Lyndsey and Logan.
