Texas - Texas A&M softball freshmen Cali Lanphear and Breanna Dozier
were selected to ESPN's Top 100 Recruits List for softball, the outlet
announced.
Lanphear (Montgomery, Texas) took the 33rd spot
on the list with Dozier (Rowlett, Texas) following at No. 64.
Lanphear is a left-handed hitter who signed as a catcher in November
of 2011. She is a 2011 Texas Girls' Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State
catcher and led Montgomery High School to three state championships and helped
the team to a state runner-up finish in 2012. She spent three seasons on the
District 17-4A first team and was named the district MVP as a senior. In June,
Lanphear was selected as the ESPNHS Player of the Week in the Midlands Region.
Dozier is a third baseman and a power hitter who took First
Team All-DFW honors as a junior while leading the team to a Bi-District
Championship and earning District Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2011. She
was one of the top offensive players in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during her
high school career in batting average, doubles, triples, home runs and RBI.
The honorees will join the Aggies this fall for the 2012 exhibition
season which kicks off on Oct. 3 with a doubleheader against Blinn College at
