COLLEGE STATION, Texas-Texas A&M men's tennis coach
Steve Denton announced today that Mitchell Krueger, one of the top junior
tennis players in the country who had signed a national letter of intent to
attend Texas A&M, has decided to turn pro.
"Congratulations to Mitchell for a great summer thus far
reaching the semis of the French Open Juniors as well as Wimbledon," Denton
said. "He has attained his highest world junior ranking at number five.
Mitchell comes from a family of Aggies and while his decision to turn pro will
keep him from playing in front of the 12th Man at the Mitchell Center, he will
always be an Aggie and an important part of our family. We wish him the very
best as he embarks on his professional tennis career."
Denton, a member of the ITA Hall of Fame and a former top
professional tennis player, has led the Aggies to the NCAA post-season six
consecutive years as Texas A&M's head coach.
Krueger, from Aledo, Texas, is the son of Myron and Marla
Krueger. His father played collegiate tennis at Texas A&M under the
tutelage of David Kent and graduated from Aggieland in 1982.
