2012 (SOPHOMORE) Made 16 appearances, all in relief in 2012...in his first season in Aggieland, Ray posted a 2-1 record with a 1.29 ERA and 14.0 innings pitched...struck out 16 while walking six...made his debut for Texas A&M against Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 21 where he pitched two-thirds of an inning in which he didn't allow a baserunner...pitched a season-high 1.2 innings against UT-Arlington where he allowed one hit, no walks and tied his season-high for strikeouts with three.
AT TEXARKANA COLLEGE As a freshman, played at Texarkana College for coach Will Bolt ... pitching out of the bullpen, tossed 58 innings, finishing with a 4.00 ERA and 40 strikeouts ... during the summer played for the Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the Perfect Game College Baseball League ... as the Hawkeyes' closer, recorded a 2.80 ERA with 36 punch outs ... selected to the PGCBL's Rising Star Team.
AT KATY HIGH SCHOOL Played for coach Tom McPherson at Katy High School ... a second-team all-district selection as a senior (2009), helping the Tigers advance to the regional semifinals of the state tournament ... earned second-team all-district accolades as a junior (2008) as his team advanced to the second round of the state playoffs ... a standout on the gridiron, was a two-year letterwinner at quarterback for the Tigers ... earned first-team all-district honors and led Katy to two state championships ... played summer ball for the Houston Raiders.
PERSONAL Parker Ray is the son of Dudley and Rebecca Ray of Katy ... born August 30, 1990, in Houston ... has an older brother, Stuart, and an older sister, Regan (A&M Class of 2010) ... majoring in kinesiology and would like to become a coach ... brother, Stuart, played baseball at St. Edward's University ... grandfather, Randolph Newcomer, was Class of '57 and an Aggie Yell Leader ... also has an aunt and uncle who attended Texas A&M ... enjoys fishing, hunting, video games and watching television in his spare time.
