WELLINGTON, Fla. - Texas A&M equestrian senior Emily Williams finished the Winter Equestrian Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket on Friday.

Williams was defeated by South Carolina's Amber Henter in equitation over fences in the preliminary round, 87-72, to enter the consolation bracket. In the first round of consolations the Woodbine, Md., native defeated New Mexico State rider Emily McConnell, 87-0. A 78-72 victory by Kansas State's Rachel Webster, however, ended Williams' run in the competition.

Aggie junior Paige Russell rode in a pair of equitation on the flat demos. Russell scored a 135 on her first ride and a 139 on her last ride. Scores for demo rides were two judges' scores added together.

Williams and Russell will join the rest of the A&M equestrian team at South Carolina on Feb. 23 for the Aggies' first SEC meet of the spring. To learn more about Texas A&M equestrian, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieEquestrian on Twitter.
