COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The undefeated and No. 1-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team faces its toughest test of the season this weekend when the Aggies (8-0) make a swing through Big 12 country to face rivals Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
A&M will battle eighth-ranked K-State Saturday at 10 a.m. at Timbercreek Stables in Manhattan, then make the drive south to face No. 4 OSU Sunday at 10 a.m. at Animal Science Arena in Stillwater. Admission is free to both shows.
"We are looking forward to the challenge this weekend will provide," head coach Tana McKay said. "It's always tough anytime you go on the road, but especially in your conference against very familiar and talented squads. We have great rivalries and histories with both Kansas State and Oklahoma State, and are very excited to compete in what should be two exciting shows."
The Aggies wrapped up regular-season home action two weeks ago with a convincing win over Baylor. A&M, which has outscored foes 104-57 this year, is 2-0 on the road after victories this past fall at Tennessee-Martin and Baylor.
KSU enters the weekend at 4-6 and has lost four in a row. The Wildcats, however, have won two of three shows at home this year, including victories over the Bears and South Carolina.
Oklahoma State (5-3) last competed in a 6-4 loss at New Mexico State two weeks ago, a show that featured only the western discipline. The Cowgirls are undefeated at home this year, including a spring-opening win over K-State at the end of January.
Texas A&M swept K-State and OSU in earlier meetings this season, posting 16-8 and 14-11 victories, respectively, at the Brazos County Expo Complex. The Aggies have won eight straight regular-season meetings against the Wildcats and six in a row against the Cowgirls.
This weekend marks the start of a three-show road swing for Texas A&M, which will close the regular season on March 26 at Fresno State. The Aggies will play host to the Big 12 Championship on April 1 and 2.
Live score updates of both shows this weekend will be available on aggieathletics.com.
