COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four members of the National Champion Texas A&M women's basketball team have accepted invitations to attend a pair of 2011 USA Women's Basketball Team Trials held May 22-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. Invitations to the trials were issued by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee, chaired by Sue Donohoe, NCAA vice president for Division I women's basketball.

Juniors Tyra White (Kansas City, Mo.) and Sydney Carter (DeSoto, Texas) and sophomore Kelsey Bone (Houston, Texas) will compete for a spot on the 2011 USA Basketball Women's World University Games 12-member roster while freshman Karla Gilbert (College Station, Texas) looks to be a key element on the 2011 USA Women's U19 World Championship Team and may also be considered for the 2011 USA World University Games Team.

The World University Games are a multi-sport competition organized every other year by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The U.S. women's basketball team will be comprised of U.S. citizens who are currently enrolled in college and have remaining eligibility.

Following the selection of the 2011 USA World University Games Team and/or finalists on May 25, the athletes will return home. Training will resume at the USOTC July 31-Aug. 8, prior to the team's departure for Shenzhen, China, and the 2011 World University Games.

In all, included on this year's trials roster are eight athletes who have international experience as a member of a USA Basketball team in a FIBA or FIBA Americas competition; an additional three who participated in the 2007 Youth Development Festival; and six players who previously attended a USA Basketball team trials.

The USA earned its 2009 U19 World Championship berth with a gold medal finish at the 2008 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, which was played in Argentina. Bone was included on that 2008 USA U18 National Team. In the last Youth Development Festival organized by USA Basketball in 2007, Bone was one of several members who led the USA White Team to a 3-0 record and gold-medal finish. Carter has participated in at least one USA Basketball national team trials.

Only U.S. citizens who are 19 years old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1992) are eligible for the 2011 USA Basketball Women's U19 World Championship Team.

The USA U19 World Championship Team training camp will open June 1-5 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the ESPN RISE Girls Showcase. The USA will train for four days before facing the Brazil U19 National Team on June 5. The game will be televised on ESPNU and also shown online at ESPN3.com.

Then on July 11-15, the USA U19 squad will reassemble for training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, before the team travels to Chile for its final preparations.

In all, included on this year's trials roster are 24 athletes who have international experience as a member of a USA Basketball team and an additional five who have participated in a previous USA Basketball team trials. Gilbert has participated in at least one USA Basketball trials.
