COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Kansas State has announced the hiring of former Texas A&M baseball assistant coach Mike Clement to become the Wildcats' hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.

"My three years in Bryan-College Station have been a huge blessing for me," Clement said. "It's been my honor to work with Coach Childress and his staff while being a part of three Big 12 Championships and a trip to Omaha. The thing that I will miss most are the great relationships I've been able to build; not only with coaches, players and athletic department staff but a lot of great people from the community who gave us unbelievable support. I look forward to rooting the Aggies on as they compete for championships in the SEC."

Clement spent the last three seasons as a volunteer coach for Texas A&M, helping the Aggies claim the Big 12 regular season championship in 2011 and league's postseason title in both 2010 and 2011.

"This is a great opportunity for Mike and I'm very happy for him," Texas A&M head coach Rob Childress said. "He's been a big part of all the success we've had for the last three seasons and has helped our players improve not only as baseball players on the field but as men off it. Kansas State is getting a great coach and a great person and I wish Mike nothing but the best."

Texas A&M has already begun the process of replacing Clement on the coaching staff.
