COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior catcher Kevin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Plowboys to a 5-2 victory over the Roughnecks on Monday during the play-in game of the Texas A&M Baseball Fall World Series at Olsen Field. With the win, the Plowboys advance to face the Farmers in the best-of-three series which begins on Tuesday.

On the mound for the Plowboys, sophomore Michael Wacha tossed six solid innings to pick up the victory. The sophomore right-hander from Texarkana, Texas, allowed just a pair of unearned runs on four hits before giving way to junior Brandon Parrent, a lefty transfer from Temple Junior College, who came out of the bullpen to contribute three innings of scoreless relief.

Junior outfielder Brian Ellis, a transfer from Texarkana College, and freshman infielder Ty Marlow each chipped in by plating a pair of runs for the Plowboys.

For the Roughnecks, freshman infielder Charlie Curl drove in two runs with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate, while junior Ross Stripling allowed just three runs and struck out five in six innings of work.

The Plowboys and Farmers continue the Fall World Series Tuesday with the first of three games on consecutive days at Olsen Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Admission to all three games of the Fall World Series is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
