Aggie Women Open Fall Season
Seniors Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar, ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles, and Sun Wen are joined by newcomers Cristina Stancu, a junior transfer from the University of Maryland who is ranked No. 17 in singles, and freshman Stefania Hristov at the three-day Duke tournament.
Junior Alyssa Caffey, a transfer from New Mexico, and freshman Anna Mamalat will represent the Aggies in Midland this weekend.
"The girls are excited and have been working hard," second-year A&M head coach Howard Joffe said. "It is definitely going to be fun to get out and to compete, especially for our two freshmen, Anna Mamalat and Stefania Hristov. It will be their first opportunity to get out and play for Texas A&M.
"Competitively, I hope the girls will battle hard, but more than anything it is exciting to start some new careers and get some senior years under way."
Twelve programs are represented at the Duke Fab-Four Invitational, which will showcase a number of players ranked in the ITA preseason rankings, including three of the top 10 players in the nation and 25 of the top 125 players. In addition, the invitational will see 11 of the top 60 doubles teams compete.
Eleven schools are represented at the Midland tournament.
