COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman Shane Vinsant has garnered SEC Freshman of the Week honors after helping the Aggies go 2-0 last week, including an upset of No. 4 Ohio State.

The Keller, Texas, native went 2-0 in singles, winning matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 lines and 1-0 in doubles with partner Harry Adams.

Vinsant, tied for the team lead in singles wins with six, defeated Phillip Seifert of Rice, 6-0, 6-2, and then upset Ohio State's 30th-ranked Chris Diaz, 6-1, 6-4, to help the Aggies remain undefeated. Vinsant has moved up to No. 67 after his play in the early part of the season.

The No. 7 duo of Adams and Vinsant went 1-0 this past week, knocking off Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen 8-7 (5), helping Texas A&M (7-0) earn the crucial doubles point in the thrilling victory over Ohio State.

Vinsant and the Aggies will be in action again this weekend as they travel to Seattle to compete at the ITA National Team Indoors. To learn more about the men's tennis team, visit AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter.
