TRINITY, Texas-The Texas A&M men's golf team shot its second straight sub-par round on Saturday and extended its lead on the rest of the field at the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

The 13th-ranked Aggies carded a 2-under 286 in the third round and sit at 4-over (868) for the tournament, nine shots ahead of second-place and top-ranked Texas (877, +13). The final 18 holes are set for Sunday morning.

"We are getting big contributions from everyone," head coach J.T. Higgins said. "All five guys are ready to play. They're all playing solid, hitting the ball well and putting great. Mentally they are focused. They're just not giving in at all to adversity or the conditions. They're battling all the way through."

A&M put together another consistently strong round up and down the lineup, with true freshman posting the team's best score of the day with a 3-under 69. For the tournament, Dunlap is in third place at 3-under 213 (73-71-69), three shots back of the lead.

"Ty has matured so much this year," Higgins said. "He told me today that it's just becoming second nature to him, the way we want him to approach things and way we want him to play. That's just the way he does it now. He doesn't have to think about it. He's not trying, he's just playing and executing, and man it shows. He played fantastic golf today. He was just solid."

The remainder of the Aggies are in the top 21 of the individual standings. Sophomore Johannes Veerman is in fourth place with a  1-under 215 (72-70-73), senior All-American Jordan Russell is in sixth at 1-over (73-73-71=217), senior Geoff Shaw is in 15th at 8-over (79-72-73=224) and redshirt freshman Greg Yates is in 21st at 10-over (78-73-75=226).

In the team standings, Texas Tech is in third place at 14-over, followed by Oklahoma (+16), Baylor (+27), Oklahoma State (+35), Iowa State (+40), Missouri (+49), Kansas State (+54) and Kansas (+67).

A&M will be paired with the Longhorns in Sunday's final round and will tee off at approximately 9:03 a.m. from the first hole. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.

For those interested in attending the event, Whispering Pines is located about 80 miles east of College Station and sits on the far northern shores of Lake Livingston. The course's address is 1532 Whispering Pines Drive, Trinity, TX 75862, and admission is free.

"We're not going to change anything tomorrow," Higgins said. "We don't need to. We know where we want to put the ball. We are playing with a lot of confidence. We'll worry about ourselves, play our game and stick to what we want to do-it's as simple as that. If we keep it in play off the tee and make sure we putt and chip uphill, we will have a great day."
