The No. 2-ranked Texas A&M men’s golf team has been selected as the top seed at the NCAA South Central Regional, the NCAA announced on Monday.

            The NCAA South Central Regional is one of six golf regional championships that will determine the field at the NCAA Championships, which will be contested at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn., June 1-6, 2010. The top five teams and the low individual player not on those teams at the South Central Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships final site.

            Teams selected to compete in the South Central Region were (by seed): Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Georgia, North Florida, TCU, Pepperdine, Auburn, North Carolina, Baylor, Tulsa, Rice, Wichita State, Georgetown and Jackson State. Competing as individuals will be: Oscar Zetterwall, New Orleans; Ken Looper, New Orleans; Philipp Fendt, Louisiana-Lafayette; Scott Kelly, Sam Houston State; and Jonathan Coleman, Grambling.

            The other five NCAA regional sites are: The Course at Yale - New Haven, Connecticut; Capital City Club, Crabapple - Atlanta, Georgia; The Warren Golf Course - Notre Dame, Indiana; Carlton Oaks Golf Club - San Diego, California; Gold Mountain Golf Club - Bremerton, Washington.

The 2010 NCAA Div. I Men’s Golf South Central Regional is hosted by Texas A&M University May 20-22 at Traditions Club Golf Course in nearby Bryan, Texas.

Course Description
The Traditions Club Golf Course is a Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-design, which opened in 2004. The 7,146-yard, par 72 championship design features stately hardwood trees, many natural creeks and wetlands and striking vistas of Texas A&M’s campus and Kyle Field.

Starting Times
Teams will tee off on holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. for the first two rounds, with the final tee time scheduled for 10:20 a.m. Teams will tee off in the final round on holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m., with the final tee time scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Teams will play 18 holes each day.
