AUSTIN --- Texas A&M diver Janie Potvin became the Aggie women's 17th and final entry to the 2011 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships by virtue of a third-place finish in the one-meter dive at the Zone D Diving Championships on Saturday at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Potvin scored 600.40 points to finish third behind Minnesota's Kelci Bryant (643.65) and Missouri's Loren Figueroa (631.70). Junior Lorena Lujan, who earned her NCAA spot on Friday, was 13th with 518.55 points. Junior Jo Thibodaux finished 14th with 513.65 points, which ended her quest to qualify for the national meet.
On the men's side, juniors Grant Nel and Cam McLean had solid days on the three-meter springboard, after having wrapped up their NCAA spots on Friday on the one-meter board. Nel placed third with 802.90 points, while McLean was sixth with 716.50 points.
The Zone D Championships conclude on Sunday on the platform dive, and Potvin, Lujan, Nel and McLean will see action.
