COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The reigning Big 12 Champion Texas A&M soccer team kicks off the spring season at home with a 4 p.m. Sunday match vs. Rice at Ellis Field.

The game against the Owls is the first of five exhibition matches for the Aggies, who ended the 2011 season with a 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, a 12th-and-final Big 12 Championship, a No. 21 national ranking and a 16-6-2 record.

The Owls were 10-7-4 in 2011, advancing to the Conference USA Tournament semifinals for the first time ever and garnering the most wins the team has seen in a single season in the past three years. Sophomore Jessica Howard was selected to the C-USA All-Conference first team and the NSCAA All-Central Region team, while senior Hope Ward was named the team's MVP after leading Rice with five assists and ranking second with 48 shots. Nicky Adams (nee Thrasher) was promoted to head coach in November of 2010 and completed her first full season at the helm of Rice soccer this year. Adams was a highly-decorated player under Guerrieri at A&M from 1997-2001.

Sunday's match is FREE to the public and parking will also be FREE in lot 100 at Reed Arena. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com or follow @AggieSoccer on Twitter.
