Soccer Honors Players at Annual Banquet
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Big 12 Champion Texas A&M soccer team held its annual awards banquet Saturday at The Zone Club at Kyle Field.
The event honors athletes and staff each year in several athletic and academic areas. Awards include recognition from various soccer media organizations and other outlets apart from Texas A&M University.
The awards presented at the banquet ranged from position MVPs, who contributed to the team's success on the field, to those accolades which highlighted the athlete who most exemplified the spirit of Aggieland.
In 2011, the team stepped away from its final season in the Big 12 with a 12th conference title after winning the Big 12 Championship in San Antonio. The Aggies then advanced to their 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round before falling to Virginia Tech, 3-1. A&M finished the season ranked 21st in the nation with a 16-6-2 record (6-1-1 Big 12).
