COLLEGE STATION, Texas-Three Texas A&M student-athletes were honored Tuesday as they received the National Academic Momentum Award. The award, sponsored by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and the Scholar Baller program, recognized 63 student-athletes across the country, including Aggies Ray Turner (men's basketball), Jonathan Mathis (football) and Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar (women's tennis).

Turner, a senior forward, was named to the first team while Mathis, a senior defensive lineman, was named to the second team. Both are Agricultural Leadership and Development majors. Sanchez-Quintanar, a senior International studies major, was selected to the third team.

The National Academic Momentum Award recognizes student-athletes based on academic improvement and the impact of that achievement on the nominee and his or her fellow students.
