BRYAN, Texas --- The Texas A&M women's golf team surged into contention with its second straight solid round at the 2011 NCAA Div. I Women's Golf Championships on Thursday at the Traditions Golf Club.
Battling the afternoon Texas wind, the Aggies grabbed the overall lead in the team standings on their back nine of play, but gave back some strokes down the stretch and ended the day in fourth place in the team standings. The Aggies finished the day with a 6-over 294, which matched the low round ever by A&M at the NCAA Championships.
"I'm not completely satisfied but I said to myself at the beginning of the day that if we shot the same number that we shot yesterday that I would be satisfied with it, but knowing that we gave away some shots on 15 and 16, that obviously left a little mark," Aggie head coach Sarah Beth Davis was tied for 79th at 14-over after rounds of 78-80.
