AUBURN, Wash. --- The Texas A&M women’s golf team will enter the final round of the 2011 NCAA West Regional tied for the final qualifying spot after posting a 302 team score on Friday at the Washington National Golf Club.
The top eight teams at the West Regional receive a bid to the NCAA Championships that will be hosted by Texas A&M and the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas on May 18-21. The Aggies were 14-over par in their second round, and go into Saturday at 27-over par after rounds of 301 and 302.
“We didn’t start off very well at all,” Aggie head coach Sarah Beth Davis, who turned in a 1-over 73 and jumped 43 spots in the individual standings to a tie for 45th at 9-over. Freshman Katerina Ruzickova posted a 3-over 75 and is tied for 19th at 4-over going into the final round. Fellow freshman Natalie Reeves shot a 4-over 76, and is tied for 25 at 5-over. Senior Sarah Zwartynski and sophomore Susy Grunden posted rounds of 6-over 78. Zwartynski is tied for 45th at 9-over, while Grunden is tied for 89th at 15-over.
The Aggies will be paired with South Carolina and Oregon in the final round, and will begin teeing off from the first hole at 8 a.m.
