Aggies set to Host Texas A&M-UTSA Shootout
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 21 Texas A&M women’s golf team will host the Texas A&M-UTSA Shootout Wednesday morning. No. 47 UTSA will travel to town to face the Aggies.
The Shootout will be held at the Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas March 27. The single-day, 36-hole competitions will take place on the par 72 course stretching 6,032 yards.
“We are excited to get back out on the course and compete against another team,” head coach Trelle McCombs said on the eve of the shootout. “Tomorrow will be a great opportunity to see the hard work the team has put in over the last two weeks. I am looking forward to seeing a couple of the players that do not get a lot of playing time and how they respond to competition”
The Aggies are returning to play after finishing 12th at the rain shortened Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, hosted by Tulane. The Aggies were led by senior Sarah Beth Davis’ 20th place finished at just three over par over 36 holes of play.
In addition to Davis, the Aggies will be represented by senior Susy Grunden and juniors Katerina Ruzickova, Chelsea Mocio and Natalie Reeves. In addition to the team score freshman Alex Neal, sophomore Kirby Kramer, junior Janell Lysack and senior Aly Smith will compete as individuals.
“UTSA is a team full of fighters,” McCombs added about the matchup with UTSA. “Coach Parnaby has done a great job with the program and has built a team full of top flight talent.”
The first round of the tournament will begin Wednesday morning with a shot gun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
