COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M duo of Junior Ore and Jackson Withrow are ranked No. 1 in the latest ITA doubles rankings, published Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies came in at No. 13 in the latest team ratings, second among the six SEC schools in the top 25.

Ore and Withrow are 5-0 this spring including wins over two top-10 duos and another over the 20th ranked team in the country. For just the third time in program history an A&M duo was ranked No. 1 overall, the first was Shuon Madden and Dumitru Caradima in 1999 followed by Austin Krajicek and Jeff Dadamo in 2011.

“Right now Junior and Jackson are playing with a lot of confidence,” head coach Steve Denton said. “Both of them are serving really well right now, but their biggest improvement has been their return game. They are putting more pressure on their opponents by consistently providing quality returns.”

Three Aggies placed in the top 40 of the singles rankings, led by sophomore Harrison Adams at No. 11 overall. Adams is the highest ranking SEC player and is coming off a career-best victory over No. 2 Guillermo Alcorta of Oklahoma. Fellow sophomore and reigning SEC player of the week, Shane Vinsant is tied for 26th and junior Jeremy Efferding comes in at 38th.

As a team the Aggies slipped from No. 8 to 13th following a 1-1 road trip through the Sooner state last weekend. The Aggies topped No. 32 Tulsa on Friday before falling to 3rd ranked Oklahoma. SEC teams in the rankings include No. 11 Tennessee, No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Mississippi State, No. 22 Florida and No. 25 Kentucky.

Joining the Ore and Withrow in the doubles rankings are Efferding and Jordan Szabo at No. 37.

The Aggies return to the friendly confines of the Mitchell Tennis Center to open SEC play with matches against No. 22 Florida and No. 33 South Carolina, on Friday and Sunday respectively. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter for coverage of Texas A&M men’s tennis.
