No. 16 Aggies Win Fourth Straight, Downing Ole Miss 73-61

OXFORD, Miss.- Texas A&M’s women’s basketball team won its fourth consecutive game by defeating Ole Miss 73-61 at Tad Smith Coliseum.

The No. 16 Aggies have won 14 of their last 16 games and match their SEC win total from 2012-13 with three games remaining.

Texas A&M (21-6, 11-2 SEC) opened the game by shooting 50.0% in the first half en route to a 38-24 halftime lead. Karla Gilbert had 12 points in the first half, the most she’s had in a first half this season.

Ole Miss (10-17, 1-12 SEC) opened the second half on a 9-0 run to close the deficit to 38-33 with 15:53 to go. The Aggies responded with a 10-2 run of their won to regain their double-digit edge.

Courtney Williams had her fifth 20+ scoring game of the season with 26 points, the second-highest total of her career.

Gilbert posted her sixth double double of the season, scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds. She scored 20+ points for only the second time in her career.

Courtney Walker joined the pair in double figures, scoring 13 points.

This was Coach Gary Blair’s first win in seven tries in Oxford, Miss., previously going 0-6 with Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin.

The Aggies take to the court again on Sunday, February 23 at 1 p.m. to host No. 15 Kentucky in the “Bookmark Game.” That game is televised by ESPN2.
