Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Lady Paladin Invitational
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Texas A&M women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Lady Paladin Invitational after scoring the third-best round in the field Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies (302-299-296=897) finished at eight-over par in the final round bettered only by the tournament’s champion and runner-up, Wisconsin (290-294-281=865) and Clemson (287-291-289) respectively.
“I was very pleased with the team’s effort today,” head coach Trelle McCombs said. “We played more like I knew we were capable of playing, especially in the final holes.”
Rounding out the top five were Georgia Regents Augusta (285-288-297=870), East Carolina (301-292-298=891), Furman (290-301-303=894) and Florida State (294-302-298=894). Completing the leaderboard were A&M, Samford (307-291-302=900), Kennesaw State (306-298-297=901), Georgia State (302-303-302=907), Coastal Carolina (301-304-307=912), Wofford (302-309-303=914), UNC Wilmington (302-327-305=934), Southern Mississippi (314-309-323=946), Nova Southeastern (316-312-320=948) and UNC Greensboro (325-316-312=953).
Individual honors were captured by Ashlan Ramsey (68-71-70=209) of Clemson.
The maroon and white were paced by senior Katerina Ruzickova’s (76-73-72=221) tie for 17th. Fellow senior Chelsea Mocio (74-78-74=226) finished tied for 26th. The freshman duo of Bianca Fabrizio (75-74-78=227) and Andrea Jonama (77-76-74=227) tied for 31st, while freshman Thanya Pattamakijsakul (82-76-76=234) tied for 60th.
“Kat did a great job of leading the team this week,” McCombs said. “She is so close to really going low on the scorecard.”
Competing as an individual, sophomore Alex Neal (77-78-78=233) finished tied for 56th.
The Aggies will return to the links Oct. 5 at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar in Norman, Okla.
