COLLEGE STATION, Texas - For the second consecutive week, the Texas A&M women's tennis team has set a record for the highest ranking in the history of the program, coming in at No. 4 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings released today.

The Aggies jumped two spots from last week's then-record high No. 6 ranking following a 3-0 week which included a historic 4-3 victory over two-time defending national champion and then-No. 4 Florida, Sunday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. A&M's previous highest ranked win was against No. 5 USC in 2004, when current A&M head coach Howard Joffe was an assistant for the Women of Troy.

A&M extended its winning streak to six and improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in SEC play with the victory against Florida, which snapped the Gators' 45-match winning streak against SEC teams in conference regular-season, SEC Tournament and NCAA Championship matches combined.

A&M, whose only loss this season was against current No. 1 North Carolina, is now the highest ranked team representing the SEC and is one of six SEC teams listed in the Top 15. Florida dropped one spot to No. 5 and is followed by No. 6 Alabama and No. 9 Georgia. Vanderbilt, A&M's next opponent, is No. 11 and Auburn is No. 14.

A&M makes its first SEC road trip this weekend, taking on the Commodores, Friday at 3 p.m. at the Curry Tennis Center in Nashville. Vanderbilt is 7-0 in the all-time series against the Aggies, while the Aggies are 4-1 against Top 15 teams this season.

A&M faces No. 44 Kentucky, Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT) in Lexington.
