COLLEGE STATION-The Texas A&M football team ended practice on Thursday by hosting families and children from the Twin City Mission in Bryan, complete with a large 6-6 Santa Claus handing out toys and goodies.

"This is a special time of the year and we are so honored to have a relationship with Twin City Mission and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to share," Aggie head football coach Kevin Sumlin said.

Senior linebacker and captain Sean Porter had asked his teammates to donate money on behalf of the organization and Porter presented a check for a little over $1,500 to Ron Crozier, Director of Community Relations for Twin City Mission.

"Our community has supported us so well through the year and this is just a small way that we can give back," Porter stated.

"The approach by the Aggie football team that we are all in this community together is a great example during this holiday season," Crozier said. "We really appreciate the relationship that has been built between Aggie football and the Twin City Mission, not just at Christmas time, but all year long."

The Aggie football team has participated in the campus-wide Big Event, which is held each spring with Texas A&M students volunteer in the community. The football team has worked around the facility and the donation this Christmas will go toward new playground equipment for the children.
