Practice Day

Today is a relatively slow day here in Orange Beach. Time to recoup, relax, and prepare for tomorrow's semifinal match against Auburn.

The team practiced for an hour at the Sports Complex, and will spend the rest of the day studying and analyzing video. While we've cooked most of our meals in our condos, we're eating Italian at Di Pomodoro for dinner this evening.

On a side note , it was an eventful morning for the soccer support staff, as they rescued a school of fish from the Orange Beach shore, near a pear close to the team condos.

A full preview of tomorrow's match, along with game notes, is available here.

Aggies Arrive in Orange Beach, Alabama

The Texas A&M Soccer team hit the road toward Orange Beach, Ala. today to prepare for their inaugural appearance in the SEC Championship Tournament.

A short, 80-minute flight from College Station to Pensacola, Fla., sandwhiched between bus rides to and from the airports, the team arrived in Orange Beach about 3 p.m.

On the plane, the team received their 2011 Big 12 Tournament Championship rings - a reward for a job well done last season and a little extra motivation to earn A&M's first SEC Championship ring this week.

Two detours were made on the way to the condos where the team will be staying this week: First, the Orange Beach Sports Complex where the SEC Tournamnent will be held. This marks the ninth year the SEC Tournament has been hosted here, beginning in 2003 and again every year since 2005. Today, the conference announced that the tournament will remain in Orange Beach through 2015. Second, the team stopped at Publix grocery store since they'll be doing their own cooking at the condos this week. All purchases were overseen by our wonderful folks from the Nutrition staff, of course.

Finally arriving at the condos, which are located directly on the beach, the team took some time to enjoy the water, relax, and get settled in their rooms before dinner at Big Fish.

Sophomore Allie Bailey gave us a brief recap of today's events and tells us a little bit about what the team is doing to prepare for tomorrow's quarterfinal match against South Carolina. Photos from today's events are also available above.

Time to get some rest. Tomorrow's game day!
