Moore Named SEC DL of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The nation's leader in sacks and tackles for loss Damontre Moore of Texas A&M was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday for his strong play against No. 6 LSU.

Moore, a junior defensive end from Rowlett High School, produced a team-high 10 tackles, while also contributing a sack, two tackles for loss, a broken up pass and a quarterback pressure in the Aggies' 24-19 loss against the Tigers. It was Moore's second weekly SEC honor after being named Co-DL of the Week for his play in the season-opener against Florida.

Moore stands atop the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision statistical rankings with 9.5 quarterback sacks (1.36 per game) and 17 total tackles for loss (2.43 per game). Moore is on pace to match former teammate Von Miller's 2009 season when he led the nation with 17 sacks. Moore has a team-high 62 tackles for the season, which ranked No. 52 in the NCAA statistics. He leads all defensive linemen in tackles.

Moore also received honorable mention National Defensive Lineman of the Week honors from the College Football Performance Awards for the fifth time this season.
